The ESAD Theatre in Malaga will be the setting for the musical tribute to Aladdin, The Wonderful Lamp, which this coming 12th November will thrill children and adults from 17:00 with the story of Agrabah, Aladdin, Princess Jasmine and the charismatic Genie.
The company Onbeat brings to the city one of the most famous folk tales in existence, transporting the audience to the exoticism and mystery of the Orient. This adaptation of Aladdin promises a unique and exciting theatrical experience that combines the magic of the Orient with the richness of music and stage talent.
Agrabah is the land where anything is possible, even the love of a princess with someone humble. It is a romance that defies established norms and overcomes social barriers. Jasmine embodies the struggle to choose love and for equality. This is the starting point of The Wonderful Lamp, this tribute to Aladdin in which the undisputed protagonist of the story is the Genie, who emerges from the Lamp to help the young lover to achieve his goal of conquering true love.
The Onbeat Company tells this story in a unique way, through the character of the Genie, and incorporates Broadway musical themes that have never before been performed in Spain. In addition to the well-known songs such as The Genie so Cool or An Ideal World, so recognisable from Disney films, there are other melodies that envelop the audience in a unique atmosphere.
This atmosphere is created by excellent staging, stunning live performances, striking choreography full of light and colour, and impressive costumes that evoke the palaces of the Orient. All this is enriched by a constant homage to the Bollywood tradition.
